POLL RESULTS – Remote Work and Office Space Planning

  

In the third of our series of SaaS Quick Polls, we asked the benchmarking community of Software and SaaS companies about whether they expect more employees to be working remotely in the new normal, and how that was affecting office space and office budget plans for the upcoming year.  Approximately 50 companies shared information about rent concessions, remote working and more.  Here’s a few highlights from the remote work and office space planning poll:

SaaS Companies with fewer than 100 employees

23% of the smallest companies, with less than 100 employees, are already 100% virtual

Remote Work and Office Space Planning

31% of those early stage companies are planning on less office space going forward

58% of these companies are negotiating rent concessions with their headquarters’ landlords and 8.33% are planning to move to a different building

SaaS Companies with 100-500 employees

100% of these companies do not expect any change in remote working from before COVID-19 to after a return to the new normal

67% of these companies are planning to decrease their office space, and 0% are planning to increase office space

58% are negotiating rent concessions, 9% own their headquarters buildings and 8% are planning on moving to a new location

SaaS Companies with 500-1000 employees

60% of these companies do not expect an increase in remote working

60% are not changing their office space plans and 40% are reducing office space forecasts

100% of these companies are not negotiating rent concessions or changes from their landlords

SaaS Companies with 1000+ employees

60% of these companies are expecting more employees to be working remotely than before

20% of these larger companies are increasing their office space forecasts, 20% are decreasing and 60% expect no change to current plans

40% of these larger companies are expecting to move headquarters, 20% are negotiating rent concessions, 20% own their own headquarters building and 20% are expecting no change
